Yesterday I was cool. I ate lunch on Florida Road at Spigadora which seems like one of the top ten things to do if you aiming at being a Durban celebrity. Not that being a local celeb is my aim. Also paid a visit to the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Moses Mabhida was a former General Secretary of the South African Communist Party. I’m not that passionate about the city of Durban but the new stadium gives me reason to smile as I approach it. Its spectacular. The high-tech cable car kindly elevates you to the top! I heard it has broken down a couple times and people had to trup down the big arch! On top of the grand arch you get a 360 degree view of city and sea! It makes even the grungiest of cities look beautiful. The big arch symblolizes a diverse nation unified in the love of sport. The 2 legs of the arch on the southern side of the stadium join together on the northern side, representing a once-divided people now united. I need to surf!
- Sydney has the Opera House, New York had the Twin Tours, London the Big Ben, France the Eiffel Tower. Durban’s landmark is the Moses Mabhida Staduim!
- Can’t imagine durban with out this master piece!
- Looking over the city. Its higher than you think.
- The grand arch which is 350m long.
- I felt safe relaxing under the trees waiting to go up the arch in the skycar!
- Looking over the sh-city.
- A girl
- Looking towards home.
- Posed but you have to do it.
